Doubt Often Comes Knocking
Noticing the voice that slows our steps.
Doubt often comes knocking.
It rarely forces its way in. It waits — quietly — for us to open the door.
And in the knock itself, there is often a clue: a tone, a questioning, a hesitation in the heart. That moment of awareness is our chance to notice.
If we let doubt in, it begins its slow work. It stalls us. Confuses us. Turns our questions inward until we begin questioning ourselves — or the path we're on.
Hath God said?
— Genesis 3:1 (KJV)
The first question in Scripture is still the whisper at the door.
When we recognize it early, we can gently keep the door closed and keep walking forward.
But when we linger and listen too long, doubt diverts our steps — and sometimes leads us where we never intended to go.
