When Peace Steps Back

A reflection on the subtle shifts of the heart.

Sometimes the heart changes before we understand why.

A calm that felt steady an hour ago suddenly feels thinner. A stillness once relied on now carries a faint ripple.

The heart reacts to what touches it, even before the mind interprets it.

A shift in the day. A tone in a conversation. A pressure not expected. A moment that brushed the heart more deeply than realized.

Just enough for peace to step back a little — and suddenly we feel unsettled.

And in that space, the heart begins looking for something steady again — and leans toward the One who brings calm…

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts…

— Colossians 3:15 (KJV)

Peace can return. Peace can lead again. Peace can take its place where it belongs.
